About Mike Hunter

Rev. Mike Hunter has been involved in ministry in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for the past 43 years and was ordained by Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in 1995. Mike has served Disciple congregations in Lufkin TX, Tyler TX, Midland, TX and is currently serving in Houston TX as the Transitional Interim Minister.
Mike is a Certified Educator and is a Certified Church Administrator Fellow with the National Association of Church Business Administrators (NACBA) and The Church Network. He has served on numerous non-profit boards. Mike is now serving his fourth appointment to the Regional Committee on Ministry for the Christian Church in the Southwest and was elected as chair of this group for a four-year term from 2019-2022. This committee is responsible for the ordination and standing of clergy for the 434 Disciple congregations in Texas and New Mexico. Mike’s passion is to mentor men and women seeking ordination.
He has degrees from Wayland Baptist University (Bachelor of Music) and Stephen F. Austin State University (Master of Arts in Vocal Performance). Mike has extensive continuing education in preaching, program development and stewardship. Mike authored stewardship materials and leads stewardship workshops for local congregations.
He is the creator of a resource for small to medium size congregations for administrative ministry coaching. Mike speaks and leads workshops across the country. Mike is the newest consultant with the Center for Healthy Churches.
