About Ayana Teter
Ayana Teter was ordained as a PCUSA minister in 2007. After co-pastoring racially and theologically diverse congregations in Texas, New York, Missouri and a starting a church plant with her husband in Pittsburgh, PA, she served as the Associate Executive Presbyter of Pittsburgh Presbytery and a consultant for the PCUSA Board of Pensions.
She currently serves as Dean of Students and Formation at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and is an Associate with PneuMatrix. While focusing her work on churches in transition, new church developments, and racial justice ministries, Ayana has valued the opportunity to accompany church leaders in strategic planning, organizational redevelopment and visioning.
With extensive clinical training in psychotherapy, systems theory, executive coaching, and spiritual direction, Ayana brings this experience to the spiritual care of ministry leaders and to her work equipping churches and non-profit organizations to live more faithfully into their mission.
In her spare time Ayana takes inspiration from her passion for ballet, serving on the board of her city's ballet company, and life-long learning—currently completing her Doctor of Ministry degree with a focus on Christian Spirituality. Ayana is married to a fellow PCUSA pastor, and together they are the proud parents of three elementary age children.
