As a clergy member, church leader, or denominational official, you know that where people come together, conflict can easily follow. When the conflict is heated and complex, it can be difficult to know where to turn. The Center for Healthy Churches is here to help you wisely and biblically address any threats to the viability and effectiveness of your ministry.

How CHC Deals With Church Conflict
Conflict is natural and unavoidable. Some measure of disagreement can even be healthy for a church. But there comes a point where, if the conflict is not solved, it can interfere with your church’s mission and ministry. Our goal at the CHC is to help you solve organizational conflict before it becomes a burden on your mission.

Conflict Assessment
We will speak to church leadership and the key participants in the conflict to gather as much unbiased information as possible about the challenges faced by the church. Whether in-person, via video conferencing, or over the phone, our consultants will create a thorough understanding of the issues and how they are impacting the congregation and community.
Once the assessment is completed, leadership will receive an assessment of the situation and answer any questions about the assessment. The next step will be the proposal and development of an action plan.

Church Conflict Assistance
After assessment comes assistance. This is a unique-to-the-situation solution developed in collaboration with the church leadership, staff, or members. Our conflict assistance is grounded in both scripture and in family systems theory. We provide in-depth coaching with the individuals involved in the conflict, small- and large-group mediation, and the creation of a long-term plan for future conflict resolution and building a culture of peace.

Leadership Coaching
Often, when conflict begins to affect the church mission, it’s a matter for leadership to address. Whether the conflict involves a member of leadership, the whole leadership team, or a leader needs to act as a mediator, CHC’s church conflict coaches can help you navigate the choppy waters with a biblically-based conflict resolution method.

Clergy Coaching
We also offer one-on-one clergy coaching for those who have difficulty dealing with conflict. Our goal is to help the clergy member achieve the relational, emotional, and spiritual health necessary to be effective in their role as a shepherd for their congregation.
